Workers have right to sit

It all started with Kerala. It was hard fought battle for Kerala Women
Kerala was the first State to pass the law which guarantees improved working conditions in commercial shops.
Section 21B of the law states: “In every shop and establishment, suitable arrangements for sitting shall be provided for all employees so as to avoid ‘on their toes’ situation throughout the duty time.”

New Bill by Tamilnadu Govt

It seeks to amend the Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishments Act, 1947
Section 22A reads, “The premises of every establishment shall have suitable seating arrangements for all employees so that they may take advantage of any opportunity to sit which may occur in the course of their work and thereby avoid the ‘on their toes’ situation throughout the working hours
