Krivak class or Talwar class Guided Missile frigate

• The Talwar-Class guided missile frigate is a modified Krivak III-Class frigate in service with the Indian Navy.
• Built by Baltiysky Zavod Yantar Shipyard, the frigate supports naval forces during air, surface and sub-surface missions.
• It is also used to detect and destroy enemy submarines and other surface ships.

Recent Update

• India and Russia signed an agreement for the purchase and construction of four additional upgraded Krivak III-class stealth frigates
• Two frigates will be directly supplied by Yantar Shipyard of Russia and two others built at state-owned Goa Shipyard Limited in India through a technology transfer.
• The frigates will be powered by Ukrainian gas turbine engines.
• They will also be equipped with Indian-built radar, sonar, communication suites and anti-ship BrahMos missile systems
