IICT inks pact with pharma firm for 2-DG

● 2-DG--2 Deoxy-D-Glucose--> oral drug(in powder form) for quick recovery and reduction in oxygen dependence in Covid-19 patients

● 2-DG has been developed by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), New Delhi, a lab of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with Dr Reddy's Laboratories (DRL)

● The drug accumulates in virus-infected cells, and prevents the growth of the virus by stopping viral synthesis and energy production.
