Filing of nominations begins for 1st phase of assembly elections in Manipur & 5th phase in Uttar Pradesh

Notification will be issued today for the first phase of assembly election in Manipur. The process of filing of nominations for the Fifth phase of Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh will also begin today with the issuance of notification. The state is going to polls in seven phases from 10th of February to 7th March.
 
The Fifth phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held in 61 Assembly Constituencies across 12 districts on 27th of February.
 
In addition, the First of the Two-Phase polling in Manipur will be held on thirty eight seats across six districts on 27th of this month.
 
The last day for filing of nominations for fifth phase in Uttar Pradeh and the First Phase polling in Manipur is 8th of this month and the scrutiny will be undertaken on 9th of February. The last date for withdrawal of candidature will be 11th of February.
 
The process of filing nominations for the Third Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh and Single-Phase polling in Punjab will end this evening. In Uttar Pradesh, a total of 499 candidates have filed their nominations so far. Scrutiny of papers for the Third Phase in Uttar Pradesh and assembly election in Punjab will be held tomorrow. The last date of withdrawal of the candidature is 4th of February.
 
The Third Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted on 20th of February in 59 Assembly Constituencies across 16 districts. In addition, the Single-Phase polling in Punjab will be held simultaneously on 117 Assembly Constituencies in the state.
 
The withdrawal of candidature has ended for the second phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and the single-phase election in Goa and Uttarakhand.
 
In Uttar Pradesh, a total of 586 candidates are left in fray in the second phase after sixty two candidates withdrew their submissions. A total of 793 nomination were filed in the second phase, out of which 145 were rejected during the scrutiny of papers on 29th of January. In Goa, 301 candidates are left in the fray after the withdrawal of candidature.
 
The Second Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted on 14th of February in 55 Assembly Constituencies from nine districts. In addition, the Single-Phase polling in two states Goa and Uttarakhand will be held simultaneously. Forty seats in Goa and 70 seats in Uttarakhand will go to polls together in this phase. 
 
Filing of nominations is underway for fourth Phase of assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh. A total of 152 nominations have been filed so far. The last date of filing nominations for this phase is 3rd of this month. Scrutiny will be held on 4th February and the last date of withdrawal of the candidature is 7th of February. In this phase, 59 Assembly Constituencies will go to polls on 23rd of February.
 
The picture of the electoral battle in the First phase of Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh has became clear with mostly multi-cornered contests on cards. There are 623 candidates in fray for 58 seats that will go to polls on 10th of February in the first phase.
 
The counting of votes in the five states will take place on 10th of March.
 
Meanwhile, campaigning has picked up pace for the first two phases of Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh and the Single-Phase polls in Goa and Uttarakhand. Star Campaigners and prominent leaders of various political parties are engaged in public rallies after finalisation of the candidates for the First Phase in Uttar Pradesh. Door to door canvassing and virtual appeals to the voters also continue. Party leaders are holding marathon meetings to finalise their electoral strategies and formations.
