British PM Boris Johnson visits various establishments in Gujarat; May announce investments in science and technology collaborations

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce investments in science and technology collaborations in Gujarat. He visited Gujarat Biotechnology University, GIFT city in Gandhinagar and also visited the JCB Company plant at Halol near Vadodara along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

According to sources, the Gujarat Biotechnology University is under construction at the cost of about 200 crore rupees. It is being established by the Science and Technology Department of Gujarat and the University of Edinburgh - United Kingdom. The British Prime Minister visited research facilities at Gujarat Biotechnology University and interacted with research scholars and faculty members.

The British Prime Minister also met Chairman of Adani Group Mr. Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad. In a social media message, Mr. Adani said that we are delighted to support the climate and sustainability agenda with focus on renewables, green hydrogen and new energy. He said that Adani Group will also work with UK companies to co-create defence and aerospace technologies. The British Prime Minister also visited Sabarmati Ashram and paid rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi- the Father of the Nation. He also visited the Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in Ahmedabad this morning to begin the first leg of his visit. He was received by Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and others at Ahmedabad airport. He will leave for Delhi later tonight.
