Bangladesh extends closure of all educational institutions till Feb 14

The government of Bangladesh has further extended the closure of all educational institutions till February 14. Earlier, the government had closed the educational institutions till January 31.

Confirming this the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Education added that the Quami Madrasas in Bangladesh are exempt from this directive of the government.

Educational Institutions in Bangladesh have remained closed since March 17 last year after the first Corona Positive case was reported in the country in March.

The government has already announced the cancellation of examinations at the Junior School certificate and Higher Secondary levels.

In the meanwhile, the death toll due to Corona in Bangladesh has gone up to 8087  with 15 deaths reported on Thursday. The total number of corona positive cases has also gone up to 5.33 lakh.

The infection rate in the country has been keeping below 4 percent of the tested people over the last several days.

The recovery rate has also gone up to 89.62 percent as per the latest figures released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The Government of Bangladesh has launched the COVID 19 vaccination program on January 27 to be followed by the nationwide vaccination drive from February 7 with the Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII).

20 lakh doses of the vaccine has been gifted by India to Bangladesh while a commercial consignment of 50 lakh doses from SII has also arrived in Bangladesh earlier this week.
